May 2006. Withhold three percent of payments for all federal, state and local government contracts.
July 2008. Increase IRS budget to enhance enforcement activities.
July 2008. Track all electronic payments made to businesses through credit and debit card company reports on merchants.
July 2008. Allow 28 percent withholding of a company’s total sales if taxpayer identification can’t be verified by credit and debit card companies.
Give IRS direct access to all business checking-account records.
Require businesses to report to the IRS payments made to contractors,
withhold taxes as necessary.
Double fines for late and/or inaccurate returns.
Require businesses to report on all payments in excess of $600 to another
business, i.e. FedEx.
