The IRS has recently coined a new term - the tax gap. The tax gap is the difference between the amount of tax that should have been paid, on a timely basis, and the amount actually received by the government for a specific tax year. The IRS claims that underreporting of income is the largest contributor, 80 percent of which the IRS is unfairly blaming on the small-business community.
